Summer on the water is one of the things New Zealand does well. If you're thinking about a jetski or personal watercraft — whether it's your first or an upgrade — here's how the finance works and what to have in order before you start shopping.
What Can Be Financed
Finance Worx arranges finance for a wide range of personal watercraft (PWC): stand-up jetskis, sit-down runabouts, three-seater recreational craft, and performance models from brands including Yamaha WaveRunner, Sea-Doo, and Kawasaki Jet Ski. Trailers can often be included in the same finance package.
New vs Used PWC
Finance is available for both new and used personal watercraft — and the process is equally straightforward for either. For used PWC, lender criteria will include the age and condition of the craft, but this is entirely manageable with the right lender in place.
For private purchases, Finance Worx manages the verification process and ensures the transaction is handled correctly — including clearing any existing finance on the craft where applicable. Read more about how private sale finance works.
Loan Terms and Rates
Jetski finance is typically structured over one to five years. The rate you're offered depends on your credit and income profile rather than the asset itself — a strong application gets a strong rate regardless of whether you're buying new or used.
Insurance
Lenders will require comprehensive insurance as a condition of finance. Finance Worx will let you know what's required as part of the application process. Credit Care Insurance is also available through Finance Worx if you'd like cover on your repayments in the event of illness, injury, redundancy, or other circumstances outside your control. Getting Ready for Summer
The best time to sort finance is before you find the craft, not after. Pre-approval means you know your budget, you can move quickly when you find the right PWC, and you're not scrambling for funding while someone else buys it out from under you.
